SPARC Fellow Dont Rhine

Dont Rhine Dont Rhine co-founded the sound art collective Ultra-red (www.ultrared.org) in 1994. Ultra-red has presented performances and installations at the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Andy Warhol Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, Tate Britain, and the KwaZulu-Natal Society for Arts Gallery in Durban, South Africa. Rhine has contributed to numerous Ultra-red publications as well as over a dozen sound recordings for labels in Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan. He also curates the collective's online fair-use record label, Public Record (www.publicrec.org). Rhine's participation in Ultra-red is deeply informed by twenty years of AIDS activism. In 2007, he was awarded a California Community Foundation mid-career fellowship for visual artists.
